Passaic, NJ- On August 13th, 2023, Mayor Hector C. Lora was excited to present the ' Car Show In The Park' event alongside Veteran Will Smith. For the first time in three years since the car show had been held for the community since the Covid-19 pandemic. Mayor Lora incorporated this event into the 150th-anniversary celebration of Passaic. Throughout the day, Mayor Lora took the opportunity to address the crowd, expressing his gratitude for the community's continued support.
Passaic's Third Ward Park was the perfect location for this event, with its expansive green spaces and picturesque setting. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual car show had to take a hiatus, but it came back strong, with awards being handed out to the best cars. The event included the Mayor's Choice Award, The Business Administrator's, and the People's Choice Award. The event showcases different eras through cars from the 1900s to the present day.
Mayor Lora voiced, " The car show had a bit of a break during the pandemic, but so much is returning stronger, bigger, and better than ever. Working with Will Smith and the fantastic and remarkable communities, we participated excellently with over one hundred vehicles". Veteran Will Smith, who has hosted the car show for over twenty years, expressed, " The event was a great success. We could not have had a better turnout. There are a lot of happy people".
Mayor Lora expressed his satisfaction with the event's overwhelming success and hoped it would be a cherished memory for all who attended."The event concluded with over one hundred attendees and more than 100 cars on display. Families from all over New Jersey came together to check out all the entries, including communities from Camden, Hudson, and Middlesex counties. Families from New York also attended the event.
